family cruises
Family cruises are becoming more and more popular as the cruise lines are diverting their attention from the traditional cruiser to the new breed which is family cruisers. They have realised if they can get families on at a young age they then potentially have a customer for life.
With a massive shift in emphasis in the last 5- 7 years the cruise lines have made massive changes of how they cater to children. More recently ships have been totally designed for family cruising with ships such as P&O Ventura designed specifically for the family market.
So how are the ships different for Family Cruises?
To start with there are larger kids rooms, they have different ages from the youngest starting from 18 months on cruise lines with different age groups up to the teens. These are always well catered for with kids only night clubs, party rooms and more Playstaions and WII's than Currys.Lets face it if the kids are happy so are you.
How do I choose the right ship?
With over 30 years experience between the management team and kids of our own we know what we like and we are in our opinion are normal people. We can recommend from our own experience the following cruise lines/ships.
Our own personal favourite is Royal Caribbean Cruises, this is mainly down to the facilties onboard. With a dedicated kids water park area (H20 Zone) on some ships, Rock Climbing, Ice Skating and if they are big enough the flow rider they will never be bored. We can also recommend P&O cruises, they have a very clever system that you can leave the kids in the room and dial the phone with a code and this acts as a baby monitor so you can go out and enjoy yourself. Another one of our favourites is Carnival, kids always want to go to kids club on a Carnival Cruise.
